Where do you go?
When overwhelmed, I often find comfort in nature by retreating from daily routines through hiking. Recently, I went on a hike and to my surprise, I felt no relief. What once offered tranquility now amplified my worries, leaving me questioning where I could rediscover this peace.
To me, nature embodies authenticity – untouched by human hands, filled with life and natural processes. I’m drawn to forested landscapes during the quiet hours of dawn and dusk. In contrast to the relentless pace of modern life, my work serves as a source of serenity and fosters a deep connection with the natural world, both for myself and those who engage with my work.
Through raw clay and photography, I explore the evolution of my relationship with nature. I’ve constructed an environment out of over 300, mostly raw clay, flowers in conversation with photographs I took from a place I used to go. Over the course of the show, the environment changes and deteriorates, relating back to my ever changing relationship to natural spaces as I grow and change throughout life.
